What is an Unconference, Anyway?
The best way to describe an unconfernce is to contrast it with a regular conference. In a regular conference the audience sits and learns from a person or panel on stage. In an unconference the audience is the panel of experts, led in a discussion by a session moderator who has expertise in the topic of discussion. The moderator's job is to share her/his wisdom as she/he draws out of the audience their best thinking and experience with the topic at hand. Microphones are passed among participants, and they raise questions and share insights and contrasting points of view. The whole idea is that the collective experience and knowledge of the audience is as great or greater than that of any single presenter on any given subject.

Many of the most popular podcasts are targeted at podcasters and other computer-centered topics. What, besides just time, will it take to get podcasting to be as broadly accepted as other media? Elisabeth Lewin (Publisher, Podcasting News) will lead a no-holds-barred discussion on this vital topic.
11:25 to 11:50Scott SiglerEarthCore II: A Sneak Preview of "Mt. Fitzroy."

Scott will give an overview of why podcasting slays the content gatekeepers of publishing, eliminates narrow definitions of genre, and puts the decision of what is "good" and what is "bad" writing in the hands of the reader, not the editor. And get ready all you Junkies, Scott will spend the last 10 minutes reading a scene from "Mt. Fitzroy," the sequel to "EarthCore." He also might rant a little bit. It will be just like listening to his podcast, only with facial expressions and the blinding glare of his bald melon.
