John McCain told Ohioans that steel mills were not coming back. He said, quote, “I know that’s small comfort to you, but I can’t look you in the eye and tell you that those steel mills are coming back,” unquote. McCain advised them instead to take advantage of the economy’s new opportunities.
Barack Obama qualifies his statement about John McCain being a better president than George Bush. Obama said; quote, “To say that John McCain and some of his instincts may be better than George Bush’s, that’s a low bar,” unquote.

John McCain will accept taxpayer money to finance his general election. It allows him to share campaign costs with the Republican National committee. McCain can now stretch his funds by splitting the cost with the RNC for television advertising and other campaign activities.

McCain's campaign called Obama "recklessly dishonest” and accused Obama of twisting McCain's words out of context.
