Tip #1
Derrick - Preview images on your CF card or camera before loading into iPhoto by hitting Return Key twice.
Tip #2
Jan - Extract bad audio from a video clip in iMovie by Control-Clicking on the clip and selecting Extract Audio. Also, shoot a few seconds of video to capture the ambient audio for filling in the holes you create by editing out unwanted sounds.

Derrick - Add unique names to photos in iPhoto and export them via File>Export>Format>Use Title - this will cause the unique name to stay with your file rather than changing it back to the original file name.

Jan - iMovie allows more than one audio track. You can change levels in any iMovie audio track. Control - click on any clip and SHOW CLIP VOLUME LEVELS. Then you can click any point to change audio levels.

Alex - You can use the smaller 65 watt MacBook power adapter to power the MacBookPro while traveling. The MacBookPro uses an 85 watt power supply but can work with the 65 watt adapter.

Scott - You can use Audio Units (AUs) to filter sound in GarageBand. While the program ships with several free AUs, you can also buy third party AUs like Ozone 3 http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/ or Metric Halo http://www.mhlabs.com/ .

Craig - Use Keynote to build motion slides/transitions, export as Quicktime Movie and get a digital quality title.

John - In iTunes 7 you can click on the Podcast tab, click Command A and then Command I to get to Skip When Shuffling.

Derrick - How to turn your Mac into a full blown Apache Web server for free. Go to Pref. Click on Sharing. Click on the Services tab - click on personal web sharing service to start serving web pages. You find the address by clicking on personal web sharing at the bottom of the pane to get to the address.

Jan - Listen to podcasts in a personal order from newest to oldest using Smart Playlist. Create new Smart Playlist. Check Match All - Podcast Is True and second rule - Playcount is zero. This puts un-played podcasts on top of the list.

Alex - Convert your file format for podcast through iTunes. Click on a file and hit Command - I and you can add information to the ID3 tags, even when converting from AIFF to MP3. Open iTunes Prefs. Go to the Advanced Menu. Set the importing encoder to MP3 or AAC and then you can choose CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3. Use Lyrics to add show notes.

Scott - Create ID3 tags in iTunes. Following Alex's tip - free way to create and add ID3 tags without GarageBand. Create AppleScript that opens and converts the file. Don't have to re-compress the file when converting.

John - You can change the icon associated with any folder, application or file using Icon Factory. http://iconfactory.com/freeware. Using Command - I you canget the info for the file and replace the icon using standard copy and paste controls from the Finder.

Derrick - WebGem http://www.fastballsoftware.com/ allows you to share up to 200 photos online for free. Unlimited $15. Allows you to pick in your pref pane which iPhoto or Aperture albums you want to share.

Jan - Make simple animations with ImageReady http://www.adobe.com - has a simple animation palette - in ImageReady you can export a file as a Quicktime movie.

Alex - GarageBand offers different musical instruments in the form of loops. Blue loops are samples of someone actually playing an instrument and then created a loop. The green loops are MIDI. MIDI instruments can be changed on the fly to any other MIDI instrument.

Scott - Aperture's loupe can now be centered using the Tilde (`) key - held for one second, wherever your cursor is on the screen, the centered loupe will jump to that location - make sure you set the loupe to FOCUS ON CURSOR. Press and hold OPTION to zoom out from the loupe view.

Craig - iWeb tip - you can make text into a graphic in iWeb so the text looks the way you want it to on any computer.

John - Send links from Safari to others - press Command - I - web page is formatted into Mail.app and makes it easy to send the whole page.

Derrick - Keywording in iPhoto - Grab photos via Command-Click and drop them onto any keyword in iPhoto and all the photos will get the keyword.

Jan - Make a still image from iMovie - File Menu - Save Frame - Select Format - JPEG for web, Command-D save to desktop - makes something you can use for your podcast shownoted.

Alex - Save a movie from Firefox - Command - I in Firefox allows you to get Page Info. Click on the Media tab to see images and movies from any page. You can save that media to your Desktop.
Tip #28
Scott - Musical typing in GarageBand - Shift-Command-K - drag any Apple loop onto the keys on the GarageBand keyboard to play that sound.
