Noted neurologist Dr. Daniel Hoch, at Massachusetts General Hospital, is embarking on a study to determine whether stress reduction therapy conducted in Second Life could actually have a medical benefit. Soon, 20 to 40 Second Life recruits will be tested inword, with guided meditations designed to reduce their stress levels. If it works, Second Life could soon see a major influx of medical research – and the money that goes along with it. Long before Second Life, the way people escaped reality was through a less interactive - but just about as immersive – technology known as “The Movies”.
