About: Wikihow.com gives a multitude of ideas and steps to consider when you buy your tree to decorating your tree. I don’t find these steps totally complete to decorating a beautiful tree, but it is a good start with some new ideas to consider – even for experienced pros. Even if this is the only tree-decorating article you consult this season, you will still have a beautiful tree. 



One note that they left off is: If you use tinsel, strands should be put on individually for a lovely effect. If clumps of tinsel are thrown on (like I used to when I was a child)...it will look as if a lazy child decorated your tree.

• It's best to use a real tree, as most people prefer their look. Other traditional alternatives are feather trees and tinsel trees, feather trees dating back to the late 19th century and tinsel trees to the mid 20th century. They can have a lot of old-fashioned charm, however, they may not work with all decor.

• Buy white or off-white lights that do not play music or flash. When selecting ornaments, avoid using anything with too much glitter, or try metal or glass icicles instead of tinsel. Plain balls are another traditional, elegant ornament shape. For a truly minimalist look, use only white or silver ornaments. Use a simple color scheme or use color sparingly.
