The word “Podcast” was derived from combining the words "iPod" and "Broadcast" and it simply means "on demand viewing" of audio or video content on a computer. Podcasts can also be downloaded to an mp3 player, such as an iPod, to a cell phone or to any other type of portable device.
How Does a Podcast Work? In order for a podcast to be available to the public, a podcaster, the host or author of the podcast, must submit their content to a hosting site or podcast directory, such as iTunes. Once a podcast has been submitted to a hosting site it can be listened to by anyone with an internet connection, anywhere in the world, anytime, usually for free. |
